Abstract

Barnyard millet is cultivated at hills for the production of both grains and fodder. Genotypic variation for grain and fodder yield was evaluated under single and double cut treatments over two consecutive years. The results indicated that genotypic selection of barnyard millet could be practiced on the basis of its performance on both grain and fodder yield while, selection of genotypes on the basis of grain yield alone might not be suitable for the promotion of dual purpose cultivars at higher elevation of hills. PRB 9403 found suitable for cultivation at high hills for single and double cut treatment.
