Abstract

Glume discolouration in rice was ascertained and found to be major yield constraint in temperate region of Jammu and Kashmir state. Different fungi with eight genera were found associated with glume discolouration of paddy, viz., Helminthosporium oryzae, Curvularia lunata, Alternaria spp. Rhizoctonia solani, Trichothecium spp., Aspergillus niger, Pyricularia grisea and Fusarium graminearum. Among these eight isolates; Helminthosporium oryzae, Curvularia lunata and Alternaria spp. were found predominant with per cent frequency of 20.94, 20.65 and 18.59 per cent respectively.
