Agricultural Efficiency in Relation to Size of Holding in Akola District

The efficiency of agriculture obviously implies that maximum return is obtained from land under a prevailing physico-cultural environment with the application of human effort at the existing level of development. The main objective of this study, to work out the agricultural efficiency of various size of farms and to study the area allocation under different crops in relation to profitability. The study was based on the secondary data of 120 farmers for the year 2005–06 from Agriculture Price Cell Scheme, Dr.Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. The results revealed that Agricultural efficiency increases as the size of holding increases with the slight decline as it approaches to the medium size group. None of the selected crop shows consistency in returns over a period of 10 years considering comparative advantage on the basis of gross as well as net returns.
