Abstract

Medicinal plants provide good remedies for human diseases and play a vital role in our day-to-day lives. Phyllanthus emblica Linn family- Euphorbiaceae, commonly known as aonla, is an important household fruit. Vitamin C was found to be very effective antioxidant constituents. The determination of active ingredients/alkaloids (3) in fruit and leaves was done by thin layer chromatography (TLC). The solvent system was Chloroform: Methanol: Ammonia: 9.8: 0.2: 0.01. The ascorbic acid content in fruit was found to be higher than that in leaves. The SDS-Page of leaves and fruits fractionated in bands in case of leaves and fruit fractions.
