Poor or improper storage facilities of seeds before sowing are responsible for destruction of a large part of our seed banks. Pre-harvest and post-harvest fungal infections destroy the viability and vigour of even good quality seeds during storage. If only 40% of seeds germinate on sowing, it will be a great economic loss indeed. A simple process like pre-sowing seed treatment with aqueous extracts of common wild plants readily available not only enhances better and vigorous growth, but also can save up to 60% of seeds from damage due to fungal infections.
