Abstract

An investigation was taken up during rabi (November-May) season (2001–2002) to study the effect of nursery fertilization with phosphorus sown at different dates on growth of nursery and on the crop in the main field. At low temperatures, application of 2.0 kg P2O5/100m2 resulted in significantly higher root length, shoot length, dry matter, NPK uptake and establishment percentage in the main field which ultimately resulted in higher NPK uptake and increased grain and straw yields over 0.5 kg P2O5/100m2.
