Abstract

This study is an attempt to examine the trends and variability in the growth of rapeseed mustard as oilseed crop in Nagaland. For the analysis purpose, the relevant secondary data from 1985–86 to 2010–2011 have been examined. The compound growth rates have been estimated with the help of exponential function and variability by using the technique of co-efficient of variation for the convenient of comparison over the period, so it is subdivided into three periods. The study concludes that a moderate to high significant growth has been observed in case of area, production and yield of rapeseed mustard as a whole covering the study period. Concerning the variability, the study concludes that there persist wide fluctuations in the growth of area, production and yield of rapeseed mustard over the study period.
