Evaluation of gladiolus varieties for Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh, India

Abstract

A study was under taken during 2002–2004 to find out the suitable gladiolus varieties for cultivation in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. There were significant difference among the varieties with respect to vegetative and floral characters. Maximum plant height was recorded in Tilak. Sindhur genotype produced maximum number of leaves per plant. Early flowering was recorded in Meera. Tilak produced long spikes and more number of florets per spike. The large size florets were observed in Meera and Sindhur.
