Abstract

Seventy five genotypes includes 56 cross combinations and along with parents were studied for genetic parameters for seed cotton yield and its component traits. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences among the genotypes for various characters studied indicating the presence of ample of variation for effective selection. GCV and PCV moderate to high for quantitative traits low for fibre quality traits. Moderate to high PCV and GCV, heritability estimates coupled with high genetic advance were observed seed cotton yield per plant, number of bolls per plant, boll weight, and number of seeds per boll, indicating the good scope for yield improvement through phenotypic selection.
