Computerized information retrieval system for released wheat varieties

Wheat released varieties database at IIWBR contains detailed information of about 390 varieties, which have been released/identified for commercial cultivation in different parts of the country under various crop production conditions. The detailed information for each variety has about 55 descriptors of various types(text, numeric, image) in the form of fields of structured data base. This voluminous data give rise to management, retrieval and search problems so structured storage of this data and stepwise retrieval procedures through user friendly menu based software package was very much needed and This software package gives solution in this direction. This package uses VB 6.0 for forms and reports at front end and Microsoft Access at back end. The paper describes software package in detail, its use, 3 tier architecture used in it, its execution and output reports generated.
