Abstract

The manifestation of hybrid vigour in 28 F1 hybrids was studied along with 11 parents. Significant heterosis over better parent and standard check was observed for fruit borer infestation and fruit yield per plant. Two hybrids, JBL-10-04 x GBL-1 and JBL-08-8 x Pant Rituraj exhibited negative but desirable heterosis expressing least infestation of fruit borer. Hence these hybrids may be recommended for commercial cultivation after proper testing. Further, the hybrids, which also possessed high per se performance for various traits may be exploited for isolating high performing transgressive segregants in generation advancement.
