Bioefficacy of insecticides for management of stem borer and leaf folder on paddy in Punjab, India

The comparative efficacy of granular insecticides was evaluated on paddy at farmers’ field in the Gurdaspur district. The per cent dead hearts were significantly lower (1.33) in the plots treated with Regent and it was closely followed by Padan (1.40) and significantly better than Furadan (2.36). Similarly, the per cent white ears were significantly lower (1.62)in the plots treated with Padan and closely followed by Regent (1.64) and both were at par with each other and significantly better than the Furadan (3.02). The per cent leaf folder incidence was also significantly reduced with application of Padan and Regent as compared with Furadan and control. The insecticidal applications significantly increased the grain yield of basmati rice as compared to untreated control.
