Abstract

In this paper we propose a technique to reduce broadcasting in the existing MANET routing algorithm such as AODV [1], DSR [2]. The existing routing algorithm AODV is sending route request packet to all the neighbor nodes when it needs to find destination. It will greatly reduce the performance of network and consumes much of the bandwidth; this paper tries to reduce route request packets by constructing rough set using equivalence classes among the neighbors of a node, which is based on the characteristics among the neighbor nodes. This proposed protocol can be applied to most existing routing algorithms for MANET to improve the performance of the protocol.
