A Technical SWOT Analysis of Campus Networks and Proposed Best Practices of Security Plan: A Case Study

In this digital era, establishing a robust campus network with the capability of providing secure, reliable, seamless, connectivity is always a challenge for any university or institute. Since 2005, the Government of India has come up with many schemes for providing high-speed internet connectivity, e-resources through various projects such as Inflibnet, NPTEL, and Universities are bound to provide a seamless flow of information and knowledge to their users. To establish a high-speed network for accessing various e-resources, Learning Management System, it becomes essential to study campus network backbone designs of various universities. In this paper, a comparative study of the campus networks of universities/institutes of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir has been done and their technical SWOT analysis has been performed. Further, the cyber security plan essential for a university campus has been proposed.
