Abstract

Today, the search of identity has become a major issue and it is one of the most significant creative cultural processes. In the context of pre-literate Naga society, the Nagas “way of life” is governed by old age customs and traditions. The customary laws of the Nagas, although unwritten, are clearly understood and strictly followed. This paper is an attempt to look into the various aspects of indigenous Naga culture and tradition so as to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Nagas. In doing so, an attempt will also be made to provide scope for further analysis and study by gleaning down reminiscence through the existing oral tradition, following which history will continue to harbour within the vista of the people.
