Bharat Nirman through rural electrification – A business plan
Abstract
While presenting the 2005–06 budget, the Union Finance Minister outlined an overarching vision to be achieved over four years for building infrastructure, especially in rural India. Called Bharat Nirman, the ambitious plan comprises six focus areas: irrigation, roads, water supply, housing, rural electrification, and rural telecom connectivity. Under rural electrification, the objective is to reach electricity to the remaining 125,000 villages and offer electricity connection to 2.3 crore households.
