The Government of India (GoI) has indicated that it wishes to continue the power sector reform efforts that have been underway since the Electricity Act was passed in 2003. These reforms include creating an environment that encourages privatization and ensures that all segments of society have access to quality electric power. The Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikiran Yojna (RGGVY) recently launched by the GoI is another indication of these intentions
