Muscular dystrophies are a group of inherited neuromuscular disorders and are characterized by necrosis of muscles and gradual muscular weakness. Its severity ranges from mild to severe, and is mostly caused by mutations in genes that encode for proteins that are critical for maintaining muscle fibre integrity for functional muscle contraction and relaxation. The patients affected with this disease are special consideration for dental professionals which are required to maintain adequate oral health in these patients thus reducing their suffering due to oral health. In the present study, the oral health needs of a patient with muscular dystrophy have been examined.
