In present study we investigated whether extra fibrinolytic activity of the pulp in certain situations facilitates the rapid breakdown of blood or prevents its post mortem coagulation in the pulp and with the subsequent breakdown of erythrocytes thus resulting in diffusion of hemoglobin and its derivatives to flow into the dentine.
Seven teeth were extracted, sectioned, treated with untreated human blood (control) and heparinized human blood. Pigmentation of the teeth occurred and the intensity of the “pinkness” varied with changing situations.
All the sectioned teeth involved in this study developed a degree of pinkness over the 14 day period.
There was pinkness in all sections over 14 day period.
