A case report of prosthetic rehabilitation of partially amputated fingers-An economical solution

Amputation of limbs are reported as a significant stressful event in the life of an amputee. Finger amputations are commonly due to traumatic injuries, congenital malformations, diseases etc. Irrespective of cause, this event can have detrimental effect on physical, mental and social well-being of an individual. Maxillofacial prosthodontics is an art and science which provides life-like appearance to the missing structures of an individual. Surgical and economical limitations can make prosthetic rehabilitation of amputated finger, a better treatment option. The purpose of this case report is to present a simple, easy and efficient method to fabricate a custom made digit prosthesis to camouflage a partial finger amputation using materials that are economic and less technique sensitive.
