The effective dealing with 3rd molars in orthodontics leaves a lot of scope of research. These are the terminal teeth in terms of both position and eruption chronology. Many studies on third molar extraction,in orthodontics have been done but the decision is still a matter of contention.
To evaluate trends in 3rd molar extraction, retention and utilization protocols used by orthodontists PAN India so as to understand the perception of individual orthodontists.
A closed-ended study by method of filling an e-questionnaire and also manual pen filled questionnaireform by 50 orthodontists all over India.
Individual growth pattern in an important consideration in eruption of 3rd molar, agenesis affect orthodontic treatment planning, erupting 3rd molar create mesial migration of teeth resulting in late mandibular anterior tooth crowding.
The study gives us a sound knowledge about the relevant factors related to 3rd molar extraction and utilization in orthodontic treatment.
