The present study aimed to determine the prevalence of partial edentulism and determining its relationship with age, gender and education.
The present study was conducted on 160 partially edentulous patients attending department of Prosthodontics at Baba Jaswant Singh dental College. Patients were examined and questioned using predetermined questionnaire.
Maximum incidence of 37.7% was reported for Keneddy's class III classification, followed by class I(32.5%), class II(19.3%) and Class IV(10.5%) classifications in maxillary arch. Same pattern was observed for the mandibular arch where Maximum incidence of 42.1% was reported for Keneddy's class III classification, followed by class I(26.4%), class II(20.7%) and Class IV(10.7%) classifications in mandibular arch.
Maximum edentulism was reported for Keneddy's class III classification, followed by class I, class II and Class IV classifications in maxillary as well as mandibular arch. No statistically significant relationship was found between various classes of partial edentulism and both genders however statistically significant relationship existed between different age groups.
