COVID 19 and autoimmunity – A Review

Abstract

In the present scenario, COVID-19 has become a major health problem causing severe acute respiratory illness in humans. This pandemic is continuously swallowing our health and humanity. Inspite of the great and collective efforts of various countries to overcome this worldwide disease, it is not under complete control. Since its emergence, various cases have been reported with autoimmune manifestations. Appearance of autoinflammatory and autoimmune phenomenon in patients with COVID-19 suggests that still its etiology and pathophysiology remains to be completely understood. This calls attention for the development of new methods and strategies for the management of critically ill patients and also for the prevention of its further spread and fatal results. In this review, we are going to discuss the facts that can further clarify the association between COVID – 19 and autoimmune phenomenon.
