Non-instrument endodontic technique is a novel caries, pulpal and root canal treatment system, also referred to as ‘Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair’ or ‘3Mix-MP therapy’. Using anti-bacterial drug combinations, the therapy aims to eliminate the causative bacteria from lesions, and after sterilization, the lesions are repaired or regenerated by the host's natural tissue recovery process. The purpose of this article is to review and discuss the non-instrument endodontic techniques in primary molars.
Comprehensive searches of the PubMed, MEDLINE, EBSCO and Google Scholar database were performed. Clinical trials selected were those in which primary teeth of children of any age were treated with lesion sterilization and tissue repair therapy displaying clinical, radiographic, and overall outcomes.
A total of 52 articles were found, of which, eventually, one in-vitro study, nine clinical articles and one case report were identified as potentially relevant.
Endodontic treatment using antibacterial mix (a combination of ciprofloxacin, metronidazole and minocycline mixed with propylene glycol and macrogol) in primary teeth has shown good clinical and radiographic success.
