Evaluation of proportion of soft tissue lesions among malwa region: A cross-sectional study

Abstract

To assess the prevalence of oral mucosal lesions.

The present study was conducted on 100 subjects. Oral mucosal lesions were classified as either white, red, pigmented and exophytic based on their prominent clinical appearance. Complete evaluation was done.

Out of the 100 patients, 60 (60%) had one or more lesions (32 males and 28 females). There was no significant difference in the prevalence of oral lesions between males (32/50; 64%) and females (28/50; 56%). A statistically significantly greater percentage of older patients had one or more oral lesion. (p < 0.001). 63.6% (28/44) of patients were 30- 40 years of age and 57.2% (32/56) of patients were > 41 years old had one or more oral mucosal lesions.

White and pigmented lesions were the most common type of oral mucosal lesions.
