In rural India, the overall health of the patient is compromised be it male or female. Systemic osteoporosis is a common occurrence. It is found worldwide that systemic osteoporosis influences resorption of residual ridge. Resorption of residual ridge influences the treatment outcome or prognosis, be it fixed or removable or implant retained prosthesis. Study was carried out in rural areas surrounding Bathinda region to find out the prevalence of systemic osteoporosis. The bone density check through ultrasound and measuring ridge height by OPG with mental foramen as reference point also helps to access bone height where there is no availability of Dentascan. The result was at par with the other studies conducted in different parts of the world i.e. Osteoprosis is more prevalent in female than in male population.
