The uncooperativeness on behalf of the child has been conceptualized in different ways from time to time in the field of dentistry. The early signs of dental phobia are denoted by dental fear and dental anxiety which influence the daily living and resultin prolonged avoidance oftreatment. Thus, an obstacle to the success and quality of dental care. Various behavioral techniques are applied for management of a young, fearful, and uncooperative pediatric dental patients. However, there exist a portion of pediatric patients who are febrile andunable to tolerate the fearful circumstances and may require alternative approaches, such as conscious sedation or general anesthesia. General anesthesia being the most common modality for management of the uncooperative children but, the risk of morbidity and mortality associated are considerably higher compared to conscious sedation. The aim of this review is to provide a hypothetic view on use of HELIOX as an agent for conscious sedation.
