Bichat's fat pad for the closure of oroantral fistula

Abstract

This paper reports the use of Bichat's fat pad for the closure of Oroantral Fistula.

A 47 year old female patient, in good general health was referred for the closure of Oroantral communication. On Intraoral examination fistulous track was observed between maxillary sinus and the oral cavity.An inpatient procedure was done under general anaesthesia for the closure of Oroantral fistula. The complete epithelisation of the defect revealed good healing.

Grafting of Bichat's fat pad is found to be a reliable, robust, easy and efficient method for the closure of Oroantral fistula.
