The aim of this study to determine the nomophobia in dental college of Punjab.
This research includes all undergraduate, graduate, and faculty members. A total of 227 participants were included, with 135 responding. 92 participants were eliminated from the research because they did not respond. The research was initially described to the participants, and their informed permission was obtained. They were given the predesigned and pretested structured Nomophobia questionnaire were distributed. Thereafter, questions were answered by the respondents. this test was done to assess the severity of Nomophobia.
The majority of the participants, 91 (71.65%) were female, while the remainder 36 (28.35%) were male. In our research, 99 (77.96%) of the participants were between the ages of 18 and 25, while the remaining 28 (22.04%) were above the age of 25. The majority of individuals, 63 (49.61%), had moderate nomophobia according to a Likert Scale score of 60-99, followed by 52 (40.95%), who had severe nomophobia based on a score of 100-140, and the minority, 12 (9.44%), who had mild nomophobia based on a score of 21-59. None of the participants were classified as non-nomophobic. The maximum participants had acute symptoms due to nomophobia like anxiety 51 (40.80%) followed by insomnia 24 (18.89%), stress 17 (13.39), fear 15 (11.81%), Panic 13 (10.24%), trembling 5(3.94) and lastly Tachycardia 2(1.57).
It was discovered that every student had some level of Nomophobia, with 91.56 percent having moderate to severe aversions to Nomos and the rest having mild aversions at most. There is equal risk for males and women. Dental professionals have a greater responsibility to their patients and their communities. It's imperative that something should be done to help them get out of their current predicament and into a more stable and independent one.
