Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare and evaluate the push out bond strength of MTA Plus and Biodentine of different thickness in multirooted teeth.

Forty noncarious molars were collected and standard access cavities were prepared and decoronation was done approximately 3mm above the cemento-enamel junction. The roots were horizontally sectioned 3mm from the apical third perpendicular to the long axis of the tooth. After that, all forty teeth were randomly divided into four groups with hydroxyapatite as an internal matrix in all the groups with Group-1 having Biodentine of 1mm thickness, Group-2 having Biodentine of 1.5mm thickness, Group-3 having MTA Plus of 1mm thickness and Group-4 having MTA Plus of 1.5mm thickness. The perforation in these were prepared using round diamond high speed bur with water coolant directed perpendicular to the centre of the pulp chamber floor. The samples were then embedded in cylindrical moulds.

Difference among the groups was analysed using post hoc Tuckey and Analysis of Variance tests. A p<0.05 was considered statistically significant for all tests.

The comparison revealed that Group 1 where hydroxyapatite matrix was used and Biodentine of 1mm thickness was used had more push-out bond strength as compared to MTA Plus groups.

For furcation perforation repair, Biodentine of 1mm thickness had the highest push-out bond strength.
