Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the postoperative sensitivity in non-carious cervical lesions restored with nanohybrid composite resin with various bonding systems.

120 patients with Class V non carious cervical lesions in premolars were randomly divided into four groups, Group I, II, III and IV and were restored with nanohybrid composite using Gluma Comfort Bond, Gluma Comfort Bond plus Desensitizer, Gluma Self Etch and Gluma Self Etch respectively. The teeth were evaluated for postoperative sensitivity at 24 hours, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months using a VAS.

Group II resulted in less postoperative sensitivity than Group III and the results were statistically significant.

All the adhesive systems decreased postoperative sensitivity at the end of 6 months but failed to eliminate it completely. Etch and rinse adhesives with glutaraldehyde showed less postoperative sensitivity than self etch adhesives.
