Loss of orbital content can result in psychological discomfort, facial deformity, and functional impairment. The prime need of such patients is the early and satisfactoryrestoration of the lost tissues to their normal anatomic form.Orbital defects with total loss of eyelids and the eyeball cannot be satisfactorilyrepaired by reconstructive surgery. A prosthetic replacement is the treatment ofchoice to return the individual to his normal vocation by producing an acceptableand lifelike appearance. This kind of treatment demands complete understanding and devotion on the part of the prosthodontist in order to treat the patient as a whole with sympathetic consideration.The present article describes a simplified technique for the fabrication of custom ocular prosthesis to achieve ideal fit and aesthetics.
