Different denture cleansers have strong effect on various properties of polyamide denture base material. Thus, careful selection of denture cleanser solution for polyamide denture base materials should be done.
Comparison of different denture base cleansers on color and surface roughness of polyamide denture base material.
In this in-vitro study 30 specimens of commercially available polyamide denture base material were fabricated and divided into three groups and sodium perborate, thyme oil and normal saline were the different denture cleansers which were used. Afterwards color and surface roughness of each specimen was measured and subjected to statistical analysis.
Polyamide denture base resin exhibited a change in color and surface roughness to some degree in all denture cleansers used in this study and changes observed were non-significant.
The choice of denture cleanser for different denture base resins should be based on the chemistry of resin and cleanser, denture cleanser concentration and duration of immersion.
