Managemnt of dens-in dente: A non surgical conservative approach

Dens invaginatus & talon cusp are both uncommon dental abnormalities and their co-existence is considered extremely rare. Dens in dente occurs due to inward invagination of enamel organ towards the dental papilla during initial stages of development of tooth. Depending on the severity, this invagination can either remain confined to the pulp chamber or extend further into the root canal, potentially reaching the apex in more advanced cases. The probable connection between the pulp and the oral cavity, making the tooth more vulnerable to caries, pulpitis, and pulpal necrosis. The talon cusp is not merely a benign anomaly; a prominent talon cusp can result in various clinical issues, including traumatic occlusion, increased susceptibility to caries in the developmental grooves and possible pulpal necrosis. Additionally, it may lead to accidental cusp fractures. To successfully manage such anomalies, timely diagnosis, preventive measures and 3-dimensional radiographic techniques are consequential in abbreviating the associated complications. The present case series aim to conservatively manage a suspected case of dens in dente Type-II employing a minimally invasive, nonsurgical treatment approach.
