Aseptic condylar osteomyelitis: an unusual case

Abstract

Aseptic osteomyelitis and necrosis of the mandibular condyle is a rare complication. Clinical symptoms may be pain in the temporomandibular joint, swelling in the parotid region on the affected side and limitation of opening of the mouth. Treatment consists of surgical removal of the necrotic condylar head and débridement of the area. Acase of condylar osteomyelitis was treated surgically (condylectomy).
