Use of different expansion method in the same patient for maxillary and mandibular expansion – A case report

Constricted arch shows difficulty in orthodontic treatment owing to their asymmetric shape and occlusal relationship. The management of constricted arches mainly comprises of expansion of the dental arches. There are many appliances available which bring about skeletal and dental expansion for arches. This case report, management of narrow maxillary and mandibular arch in 13 years old patient with two different types of expansion method. For the correction of maxillary arch HYRAX was used and for mandible correction Transverse Transforce was used. At the end of the treatment the expansion achieved in maxillary arch was about 6 mm with HYRAX in a month and about 5 mm in the mandibular arch in 4 months. Both appliances are capable of expansion but of different nature.
