Papillon lefevre syndrome: A case report

Papillon Lefevre syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive disease characterized by skin lesions caused by palmar plantar hyperkeratosis, and severe periodontal destruction involving both primary and permanent dentitions. The purpose of this report was to describe the case of 15 years old boy who presented to the Department of Pedodontics, Sri Guru Ram Dass Institute of Dental Sciences and Research, Sri Amritsar, Punjab, India with progressively loosening and drifting of teeth. Medical history revealed the hyperkeratosis of hands and soles, which had been medically diagnosed as eczema. These findings were suggestive of Papillon Lefevre syndrome.The clinical presentation, differential diagnosis and management of this syndrome is discussed.
