Abstract

To compare the antibacterial properties of Calcium hydroxide and Triantibiotic paste against Enterococcus faecalis.

The antimicrobial effectiveness of Calcium hydroxide and Triantibiotic paste against Enterococcus faecalis was evaluated in vitro. The samples were evaluated at concentrations of 10μl, 20μl, 30μl, 50μl and 75μl. After incubation at room temperature, the survival of bacterial in solution was assessed by 10 fold serial dilutions. Colonies on plates were counted and zones of inhibition were estimated.

Calcium hydroxide had better inhibitory effect than triple antibiotic paste at all tested concentrations

Calcium hydroxide had better inhibitory effect against Enterococcus faecalis. This resulted in faster elimination of the bacteria (p < 0.01).
