The key to optimize implant esthetics in anterior region is preservation of the existing peri-implant structures using provisionalization (or temporization) with a pseudoloaded prosthesis (provisional restoration) especially in immediate implant placement cases. This process will establish a natural and aesthetic anatomic soft tissue form apart from psychological and functional benefits. Moreover, it acts as communication tool for visualization, evaluation and modification between patient, clinician and laboratory personnel for optimal permanent restoration. This article aims to summarize various such options available for provisionalization of implants in esthetic zone.
