Ossifying Fibroma in retromolar region in an elderly patient: An unusual case report

Ossifying Fibroma (OF) of the oral cavity is a fibrosseous lesion of rare entity. They are slow but progressive in growth and are usually found in the second to fourth decade in females in premolar and molar regions of the mandible and rarely in elderly and retromolar area. In this article a 67 year elderly female presented as impacted third molar with trismus and excruciating pain having intraoral and extraoral swelling in retromolar and submandibular region respectively. This case report is based on clinical evaluation, radiographic findings and histopathological examination. Lesion was enucleated surgically with diagnosis of OF; at an unusual rarely reported site of retromolar area in an elderly patient. To the best of my knowledge this is the second reported case of OF in retromolar area in elderly patient.
