Many materials are used in dental treatments. These include chemical, heat and light cured resins. Denture base resins are used in the fabrication of partial and complete dentures. Although allergy is not aggrevated by the acrylic but by its unpolymerised residual monomer. Methyl methacrylate, or MMA, is a substance used in the manufacture of a variety of plastics and other products which is responsible for the allergy to dentist and dental technicians. These causes both local as well as systemic effects.
