Play becomes an activity in which the child takes control. The absence of play is viewed as on obstacle to the development of healthy and creative individuals. Play as a method of exploring the world, venturing into the unknown, and testing reality against personal powers. Mothers are child's first and best playmates, so they need to acquire knowledge regarding the importance of play needs and also variations in normal growth and development, attainment of milestones at appropriate age.
The Aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of video-assisted teaching method on knowledge regarding play needs among mothers of toddlers residing in selected areas of Mandi Gobindgarh, district Fatehgarh Sahib.
A pre experimental research approach was used with pre experimental design. The setting of study was selected urban area in community of Mandi Gobindgarh, Distt. Fatehgarh sahib. The sample was 50 mothers of toddlers selected as per inclusion criteria.
The result showed that the pre-test mean knowledge score was 12.54 with SD (2.24) and the post-test mean knowledge score was 15.48 with SD (2.00). Findings revealed that there was significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores. Chi-square test was applied to find out the association of the post-test knowledge score with selected socio-demographic variables.
The study concluded that there was a significant increase in knowledge scores of mothers of toddlers regarding play needs which proved that video-assisted teaching method was effective in enhancing the knowledge of mother regarding the play needs.
