Internet addiction is proposed but unproven disorder that involves excessive Internet use to the extent that it interferes with daily life. Excessive use maybe determined bylosing track of time, neglecting basic drives such as hunger and sleep, withdrawal symptoms, and negative behaviours including anger; fatigue and social isolation. Now day's people are becoming addicted to the internet in much that same way that others became addicted to drugs or alcohol which resulted in academic, social and occupational impairment reduced work performance.
The current study was conducted to assess internet addiction among the nursrng students.
Descriptive survey approach was adopted to collect data. The period of data collection was 10 days. By using stratified random sampling technique a total of 120 subjects were selected. The questionnaire contained; demographic information (include age, gender, course, domiciliary, type of family, monthly family income and per capita income) and assessment of their internet usage byusing questionnaire and assessment ofinternet addiction byKimberley Young's IAT
Data was analysed by using SPSS 16. The subjects are categorized as having mild 31 (25.8%), moderate 71 (59.2&) and severe 18 (15%) internet addiction. Independent T-test and ANOVA test were applied for the analysis ofdata. According to the Kimberley Young's lnternet Addiction Test, test scores of internet addiction found as controlled (35%), moderate (56.66%) and addicted 8, 33%).
It is concluded that internet users can use internet in controlled manner, in moderate mannerandsome can be addicted to internet facility.
