First Aid is an immediate temporary assistance given to a person who is injured or has suddenly become ill, using facilities or materials available at that time before regular medical help is imparted. First aid include assessing the victim for life-threatening conditions, performing appropriate interventions to sustain life and keeping the person in the best possible physical and mental conditions until he/she can enter the emergency or casualty until in the hospital. Basic Life support (BLS) refers to lifesaving procedure that focuses on the victim's airway, breathing and circulation. BLS includes rescue breathing, CPR and obstructed airway management.
The study is intended to assess the knowledge of school teachers regarding the emergency conditions including BLS in selected school teachers among district Ferozepur.
A quantitative research approach and Pre experimental one group Pre-test Post-test design was used. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 50 teachers of selected school of district Ferozepur, Punjab was selected. Knowledge questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge of teachers regarding first aid management of selected emergency conditions including BLS. Post test was conducted on the 7th day after the administration of educational training module regarding first aid management of selected emergency conditions including BLS.
The result revealed that there significant improvement in knowledge of teachers after administration of Educational training programme regarding first aid management of selected emergency conditions including BLS. Paired t test was used to check the effectiveness of Educational training programme and was found to be statistically significant at p value <0.05.
