Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), which has been operating in the all districts of Punjab for decades.
The objective of the present paper is to examine the impact of NHED of ICDS on the pregnant women in terms of enhancing their knowledge in the critical Health Care and the extent to which the pregnant women put this knowledge into practice.

For this study, all three ICDS projects; namely Barnala ICDS project, Sehna ICDS project and Mehal Kalan ICDS project were selected from Barnala district of Punjab. A total of 30 Anganwadis (10 from each ICDS project) were selected on the basis of random. From each Anganwadi 2 pregnant women were selected randomly.
A majority (66.66%) of the pregnant women did not receive supplementary nutrition food from the AWCs. The study also found that a high majority (81.66%) PW did not know the real reason of measles and again majority (76.66%) pregnant women were not sure about ways of managing measles. The findings show a poor performance of the programme which reflected adversely on women's health
