Every nursing student has different study style that keeps a student more productive with highly active behaviour over a period of time. The study habits can really make or break students' academic career and sometimes even affect personal life too.
The purpose of the present study was to assess the study habits of nursing students.
The cross sectional study was carried out on 499 BSc Nursing 2nd, 3rd, 4th year students at Khalsa College of Nursing Amritsar (Punjab) an examination centre at that time. Purposive sampling technique was adopted to collect the information regarding study habits. BSc nursing 1st year students were excluded.
Nearly half of the students had average study habits. Only 4.4% students had excellent study habits. Nursing students also had certain undesirable study habits like students indulge into cramming, referring text books at the end moment, which means not preparing systematic notes for quick review and not able to anticipate importanttopics for examination point of view.
The nursing students do not know how to study and lack of proper study habits is one of the root causes of our dwindling nursing educational standard.
