Stroke is a major health problem in the world ranking among the top three causes of death, after heart disease and cancer in the developed world 1. More than two thirds of the global burden of stroke is borne by developing countries, where the average age of the patient with stroke is 15 years younger than in developed countries2. It has been estimated that about 1, 800 people die of stroke everyday in India and stroke represented 1.2% of the total deaths in the country, when all age groups were included 3.
A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Computer-Assisted Teaching among Staff Nurses about Assessment and Management of Stroke.
A pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test study was conducted on 60 staff nurses to assess the effect of computer assisted teaching about assessment and management of staff nurses, at Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical sciences by simple random sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was used to assess the effectiveness of computer assisted teaching.
The study revealed that 20% had poor knowledge, 55% had average knowledge, 25% had good knowledge before intervention and 34% had average knowledge and 96.6% had good knowledge after intervention of computer assisted teaching.
The study revealed that computer assisted teaching is effective in knowledge gain of staff nurses in assessment and management of stroke patients.
