Abstract

Twenty four safflower genotypes were in vitro screened for isolating the sources resistant against Fusarium wilt using fusaric acid as pathotoxic compound. The fusaric acid at 25 and 35 ppm concentration caused wilting and death of seedlings within eight days, however, the resistant genotypes remained healthy up to 15 days. The seedlings of eight genotypes viz., GMU-1199, GMU3661, GMU-3771, GMU-4983, GMU-5097, GMU-5133, GMU-7017 and SSF658 remained healthy up to 15 days after fusaric acid treatment, while remaining genotypes exhibited wilting within 3 to 10 days. Untreated seedlings remained healthy up to 15 days.
