Abstract

The nature of induced mutation in polygenic variability was studies in two rice genotypes, viz., Kalanamak and Badshah Bhog for five seed characters namely, 100-seed weight, kernel length, kernel breadth, L/B ratio and grain yield/plant. Treatment with 40kR gamma-ray + EMS followed by 40kR gammaray and 30kR gamma-ray + EMS were found to be most useful in releasing variability in desired directions in most of the characters in both the genotypes and generations.
