Genetic variance, heritability and genetic advance of 120 F5 lines of cross TTB 7 × ICP 7035 of Pigeonpea indicated high PCV, GCV, heritability coupled with high genetic advance for secondary branches per plant, pods per plant and seed yield per plant. High PCV, GCV, moderate heritability with high genetic advance was observed for primary branches per plant. Moderate PCV, GCV, with high heritability coupled with high genetic advance was recorded for 100 seed weight indicating scope for improvement of these characters by selection coupled with breeding programme. RIL 48 recorded the highest seed yield per plant. RIL 78 exhibited highest pods per plant. While, for secondary branches per plant, a total of 8 positive transgressed recombinants were noticed of which RIL78 recorded the highest secondary branches per plant.
